Finally, a kid's guide to basic embroidery that's inviting, not intimidating. Simple Embroidery has friendly, easy-to-follow instructions on the ins-and-outs of 11 different stitches. Use them alone or in combination to embellish any fabric project imaginable.
The book comes with all the supplies needed to start stitching, including a rainbow of embroidery floss, a custom-made hoop and embroidery needles in two sizes. Each stitch is introduced along with its own starter project, perfect for practising that particular variation. Once you've learned to stitch on the included cotton handkerchief, you can embellish T-shirts, napkins, pillowcases, scarves, socks - almost anything! Re-usable iron-on transfers provide plenty of adorable design ideas. The grand finale, of course, is a sampler that incorporates all 11 stitches, from the back stitch to the French knot.
Embroidery is one of those things that looks a lot harder to do than it actually is. Kids can, for example, embroider a fantastic design along the hem of their jeans using nothing more complicated than the basic in-and-out straight stitch. Very simple and fun to do, very satisfying to show off and share. Very, very Klutz!
