In 1967, McCall's Magazine asked famous American painter Norman Rockwell to paint a special cover holiday scene for its Christmas issue. The result was one of Rockwell's most famous works; Main Street, Stockbridge at Christmas, one of the artist's 172 large-scale canvases. Some 500 paintings of Rockwell's are permanently on exhibit at the Rockwell Museum in the town of Stockbridge and Main Street - Christmas in Stockbridge is one of his best known.
