Together with the Thunderstreak the reconnaissance plane RF-84F was developed.
The air intakes were moved to the wings in order to provide space for sophisticated photographic equipment.
The prototype was flown in 1952, and consignments in the American reconnaissance units SAC and TAC began in 1954. This plane is equipped with a pressure cabin; the pilot's compartment has a removable windshield, and a catapult seat.
The Thunderflash is armed with 4 MGs caliber 12,7 mm, placed in the prolongation of the semiwings. The airplane can be refueled during flight. The wings contain additional spare tanks.
The Thunderflash was also supplied to the Federal Republic of Germany, to France, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Norway, Greece, Turkey and Taiwan. |  | Features
