The ME-262 is considered to be the world's first real jet fighter.
This twin-engine aircraft, developed by the German war machine saw first service during the second half of 1944 and upset the allied commanders considerably. At this point, however the deteriorating German situation did not permit sufficient production or training of pilots.
Despite the potential of this aircraft the ME-262 did not even participate significantly in the major battles of the air war.
