The Super Hornet is an evolution of the present F/A 18, standard fighter plane of the U.S. Navy and the Marines and will see service within the coming years.
The new aircraft, which is larger than its predecessor has improved aerodynamic outlines and the latest state-of-the art electronics which enable the plane to use the most advanced weapons systems.
The arms pay-load and improved range are other advantages over the "older" F/A 18, which showed some weaknesses during the Golf war and in the Balkans.
