Description
The F-100F bore no resemblance to its famous predecessor the F-86, yet nevertheless, it was given the name Super Sabre because the aircraft was supposed to continue as the premiere air-superiority fighter in the US Air Forces inventory.
The F-100 was the first supersonic fighter/bomber used by the USAF, but in the end it was used more as a bomber than a pure fighter. The fighter role was taken over by even more capable aircraft like the F-4 Phantom.
The F-100 was used extensively in Vietnam and also widely exported.
