Description
The Supermarine Spitfire MK VB represented the first major improvement in performance and performance for the Spitfire airframe.
The MK VB had an updated Merlin 45 engine of 1600 hp compared to the 1100 hp of the MK I/II. The plane also had the first successful installation of twin Hispano 20 mm cannons.
The MK VB Spitfires entered service in March 1941 and were active in the defense of Britain as well as flying over France to attack German positions.
More MK VB Spitfires were produced than any other version of this famous aircraft.
