 From The Publisher
A seemingly simple fable of two children lost in a glittering landscape, is eloquent in its innocence but is imbued with an awareness of the fragility of life. This is a wintry story of village life in the high mountains but also a parable of belief and faith. The rock crystals of the title are the shards of ice of the glacier that dominates the landscape.

Author Biography: Adalbert Stifter grew up in the idyllic landscape of 19th century Bohemia and was educated at the University of Vienna. He developed a passion for painting and it was not until 1840 that he published his first novel and was feted in Viennese literary circles until his death in 1868.
