 In Brief
This volume comprises English translations of two seventeenth-century Japanese military treatises, the title work and Yagyu Munenori's The Book of Family Traditions and the Art of War. Annotated bibliography.

 From The Publisher
The Book of Five Rings has been read for years to gain insight into the mind of the Warrior and an understanding of confrontation. The famous Samurai, Miyamoto Musashi, originally wrote the book in 1645. Musashi, the Sword Saint as he is known in Japan, killed his first man in a duel when he was only thirteen. He went on to fight in over sixty duels and never once lost. In this book he recorded his secrets to success, and these secrets can be applied to martial arts or business today. There are many translations of his original work available, but most are written from only an academic standpoint because the authors have little or no experience with the sword or in martial arts.

D.E. Tarver brings a lifetime of experience in sword training, martial arts and business to this version, and the result is a highly motivating and easy to understand book.

If you are serious about winning in any area of your life, this book is a must for you.

 Annotation
Since the publication of its first English translation in 1974, The Book of Five Rings has become an underground classic in the American business community, where it is studied as a text on Japanese management techniques. Here are timeless principles of craft, skill, timing, and spirit from a great samurai warrior--plus background on Zen, Bushido, Heiho, and Musashi's life. Two color.
