Quotations

"In comparing various authors with one another, I have discovered that some of the gravest and latest writers have transcribed, word for word, from former works, without making acknowledgment."

 From The Publisher
Rand and Rose Flem-Ath present evidence that not only did an advanced civilization once exist on the continent now known as Antarctica, but that it was probably destroyed in a global catastrophe around 9600 B.C. that shifted the continent of Atlantis to its present position in the arctic waters. The authors use Charles Hapgood's theory of earth crust displacement to explain these enigmas: at various stages in prehistory the earth's crust shifted dramatically, causing earthquakes, tidal waves, devastating climatic changes - destruction that could obliterate a sophisticated civilization. By studying the ancient maps, Plato's clues as to the location of Atlantis, and similarities between myths from around the world, the Flem-Aths conclude that a civilization of intelligent seafarers did exist some 12,000 years ago but was destroyed by a geological disaster, leaving only a few survivors to safeguard its legends for posterity. The combined evidence points convincingly at Antarctica, where, under a blanket of impenetrable ice, lies the lost city of Atlantis.

 The Word On The Street
"An excellent book which is not only beautifully researched but extremely entertaining to read. Their theory on Atlantis will go down in the annals of this subject as one of the most convincing and imaginative. Well done for this first-class tour de force." -- Author of The Orion Mystery: Unlocking the Secrets ofthe Pyramids —Robert Bauval
