Lemongrass, also known as Capim-cidrao, Fever Tea, Melissa Grass, and Sereh, is native to tropical Southeast Asia. The leaves of Lemongrass are added to salads and used in Vietnamese and Thai curries. Lemongrass is used in herbal teas and other nonalcoholic beverages. The oil of Lemongrass is used in candy and baked goods, and also used as a topical treatment for athlete's foot, ringworm, and muscle soreness. Oil from lemongrass is also widely used as a fragrance in perfumes and cosmetics, such as soaps and creams.
Internally, Lemongrass is considered a carminative and insect repellent. Lemongrass is believed to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties and it acts as a central nervous system depressant. Lemongrass is a specific remedy against nematodes and the oil shows activity against some bacteria. It also contains five constituents that inhibit blood coagulation. Lemongrass is used to relieve skin problems, sore throats and respiratory problems. In traditional medicine, Lemongrass is used to combat anxiety, insomnia, stomach problems, hypertension, and fever.

Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 tea bag for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the pot, cover and let steep for 2-4 minutes. Pour into your cup; add milk and sugar to taste.
Iced tea brewing method: (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 5 tea bags into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea itself. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into the serving pitcher straining the tea bags. Add ice and top-up with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.
