Blueberry Leaf (Blue Cohosh, Blue Ginseng, Yellow Ginseng, Beechdrops) is indicated in any condition where there is weakness or loss of tone of the uterus. It eases the cramps of suppressed periods and the pain associated with pelvic inflammatory disease or fibroids, and may also be used in false labor pain or threatened miscarriage. During labour itself, Blueberry Leaf eases delivery. It has a tonic effect on the uterus and fallopian tubes and increases uterine muscle tone. It may be used in other cases where an antispasmodic action is required, such as colic, asthma or nervous cough. It has also been used to treat arthritis and rheumatism and to ease stomach cramps.

I've heard that blueberry LEAF extract is good for brain health. How does it compare to blueberry (the FRUIT itself, not the LEAF)? Thanks.

The anthocyanins and phenols present in blueberry leaves are believed to be responsible for the powerful antioxidant and anti-aging effects. In animal studies, blueberry leaf supplements fed to rats resulted in enhanced memory and maze-running ability, and more healthy brain tissue as compared to the control group.
A report from 1997 concluded that, ounce for ounce, blueberries had the highest antioxidant capacity of all the fresh fruits and vegetables tested up until that time - it was actually the blueberry leaf that measured significantly higher than the blueberry itself. Another study from 2001 published by the United States Department of Agriculture concluded that, from the analysis of several highbush blueberry shrubs, the level of antioxidants in the leaves was roughly 25 times higher than that of the fruit.
Directions
