Periwinkle (Greater Periwinkle: Vinca major L.; Lesser Periwinkle: Vina minor L.; Flower of Death; Sorceror's Violet)
Medicinal Usage
Periwinkle was used to check internal bleeding, heal sores, wounds and ulcers, soothe inflammations, relieve cramps, and reduce blood pressure and nervous tension, Culpeper said "it is a great binder, and stays bleeding at the mouth and nose, if it be chewed." It was also taken for diabetes and constipation. The plant can be poisonous.
Miscellaneous
The periwinkle was known in Britain by at least Anglo-Saxon times, and was listed by Aelfric. As a symbol of immortality, it was traditionally linked with death, and sometimes worn by those about to be executed. Culpeper said "that the leaves eaten by man and wife together, cause love between them."

Directions
Stir 1/4 of a teaspoon into a glass of water and consume 3 times daily, with meals.
Cautions
Side effects from oral use of Periwinkle have been slight and usually disappear after taking the supplement for awhile or after discontinuing use.
Some people noted a brief drop in blood pressure or faster heart rate after starting this supplement.
Periwinkle has not been found to interact with other drugs.
Safety in young children, pregnant or nursing women, or those with severe liver or kidney disease is not known.
