Description
Horseradish Root, also called Great Mountain Root, Great Raifort, and Red Cole, is native to Europe, but is now found worldwide. The flavor of the Horseradish Root is so bitter that it brings tears to the eyes, which is why it is included in the traditional Passover meal to commemorate the suffering of the Jews under Pharaoh's rule.
Horseradish is an excellent diuretic, and is good for digestion problems. Herbalists combine Horseradish and honey for coughs and asthma treatments. Externally, it can be used to alleviate the pain and stiffness caused by rheumatism. There are many benefits of using Horseradish. Horseradish is a good expectorant, soothing for respiratory problems, and may help relieve rheumatism by stimulating blood flow to inflamed joints. Horseradish can be used both orally and externally.
For relief from a bad cold, mix Horseradish Root with honey and warm water, or take 1 tablet up to 3 times daily. To make a poultice, add cornstarch to fresh horseradish, and apply to the affected areas in a gauze bandage. Horseradish Root is a natural source of Quercetin and Vitamin C.
