Commission E and other herbal researchers don't champion blonde or black seed psylilum over the other. However, the commission notes that a wider range of conditions can be treated with blonde seed and its husk. Like black seed, blonde psyllium is a natural source of fiber.

The commission doesn't cite additional reasons for using blonde seed and its husk instead of the black seed, nor do other herbal writers we surveyed.
How to Use the Herb
The dosage is higher than with black seed. For blonde seed, take 12-40 grams per day with plenty of water. For blonde seed husk, the range of doses is quite wide: 4-20 grams per day, again with plenty of water.

Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 tea bag for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the pot, cover and let steep for 2-4 minutes. Pour into your cup; add milk and sugar to taste.
Iced tea brewing method: (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 5 tea bags into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea itself. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into the serving pitcher straining the tea bags. Add ice and top-up with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.
Cautions
For ulcers and colitis, consult your physician.
If diarrhea lasts more than 3-4 days, consult a physician. The commission also cautions diabetics using blonde seed or blonde seed husks that "There may need to be a reduction in the insulin usage diabetics that are insulin-dependent." If gas or bloating results from using psyllium, try another laxative such as flaxseed oil.
