Description
Originating in and native plant of Venezuela, this herb has an agreeable and spicy odor and is therefore an aromatic plant. It stimulates functional body activity and is considered to have a tonic effect. It has been recommended for diarrhea, intermittent fevers and for conditions where there has been an accumulation of water in the tissues and cavities. An average dose would vary between five and fifteen grains of the powdered bark. Any larger quantity could cause vomiting and a watery evacuation of the intestinal contents.
