Swiss Cold-Tek is an innovative and unique combination of herbs to help provide symptomatic relief from colds, flu and upper respiratory tract infections. It is a blend of Andrographis paniculata extract, Canadian Ginseng, and a proprietary blend of Echinacea extract, all in an easy-to-swallow capsule format.
Andrographis, and Asian shrub widely used in Indian and Chinese medicine, has gained popularity in Scandinavian countries for use during the winter season as an immune booster. Additionally, andrographis inhibits herpes simplex 1 in vitro and possesses anti-carcinogenic, anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulatory, and hepatoprotective actions. The use of echinacea as an immune stimulant is widely known, and ginseng's role in fighting colds has received press in recent years. In a study out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (published in the October '05 Canadian Medical Association Journal), patients taking two 200 mg capsules of North American ginseng per day had fewer colds and cold symptoms than those on the rice-powder placebo.
