Cocoa butter is a yellowish fatty acid obtained from the cocoa seeds and is used in a variety of cosmetics, chocolate, and soaps. Pure cocoa butter is very rich and moisturizing and is useful for rejuvenating all skin types. It provides a moisture barrier to help to prevent drying on the skin. While cocoa butter is extremely nourishing to the skin, it helps to preserve the skin's natural elasticity during and after pregnancy. Skin that has lost its elasticity may become more succeptible to unsightly stretch marks and blemishes.

The essence of the current American rule on Traditional Uses is, as stated by FTC, "Claims based on historical or traditional use should be substantiated by confirming scientific evidence, or should be presented in such a way that consumers understand that the sole basis for the claim is a history of use of the product for a particular purpose."
