Description
The fruits of the Bilberry, because of their acid properties, have been classified among the sedatives and astringents: they have been used in particular for diarrhea and dysentery, mainly in the form of syrup, in a dose of 30-60 grams. Dioscorides said that they had the property of firming iup tssue. The syrup, alone or mixed with cinnamon water and sometimes potassium carbonate, has been used to combat stomach acidity. The extract of the berries in a dose of 0.20 centigrams, taken 4-6 times a day, has been regarded as an excellent means of checking diarrhea when it had not responded to the usual treatment. Bilberry syrup has also been recommended for blennorrhagic discharges, either alone or in the form of lemonade in a dose of 60 grams to one litre of water.

Bilberry liquid extracts are hard to find. Of all the ones I've foudn and tried, this is the best!

I purchased the bilberry extract for our dog who has been diagnosed with glaucoma, thinking a liquid would be easier to give, but we haven't needed to give it to her. She is very good about taking pills. I have opened one bottle and found it to be quite palatable, for anyone concerned about the taste. It is quite thick, making it difficult to measure, but I don't think that's a real flaw, since dosing is not that touchy with this particular herb. All in all, it appears to be a good product. I will assign 3 stars for taste since that can be important for many.

This product has a great taste, so it's very easy to take as is or mixed with a little water. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative to capsules.
