Anise seed is a gray-brown oval seed from Pimpinella anisum, a plant in the parsley family. It is related to Caraway, Dill, Cumin, and Fennel. For centuries, anise has been used to flovor medicines, colognes, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and soaps.
