Bilberry
The fruits of the small perennial shrub, the bilberry, are very similar to
the blueberry bush of North America. Commonly referred to as the
"European blueberry", the bilberry has been used since
prehistoric times for a wide variety of health complaints. Studies on
animals and in vitro provide evidence for anti-bacterial,
anti-ulcer, and anti-spasmodic properties, among several therapeutic
actions tested and confirmed. Human trials, although more limited, suggest
that bilberry may improve night vision, cataracts, and other eye-related
disorders in test subjects. Further controlled testing is required, but
results so far are very promising.
Directions
Hot tea brewing method: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 teaspoon for each cup into the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea).
Iced tea brewing method (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 6 teaspoons into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the leaves. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. [A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to double the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water].

The Naval Institute Guide to Combat Fleets of the World: Their Ships, Aircraft, and Systems
Publisher's Notes Combat Fleets is internationally acknowledged as a comprehensive, authoritative, andaffordable one-volume reference on the world's naval and paranaval forces. Updated biennially, it includes accurate and timely data about the composition of the afloat, coastal defense, and aviation arms of more than one hundred eighty countries and territories, including coast guards and other armed maritime government services. Whether major fleets like those of the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, and Italy, or small maritime forces like those in Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands, all are given equally thorough treatment.
Detailed and current information is provided on the characteristics and capabilities of ships and craft ranging from giant aircraft carriers and ballistic missile submarines to the smallest of tugboats and launches--literally thousands of vessels not found in similar publications. To keep the reader totally up to date, special attention is given to documenting the retirement or transfer abroad of older warships. Full descriptions of principal naval aircraft, weapons systems, and sensors are provided along with useful data on organization, personnel strengths, and bases. Thoroughly indexed, this new volume has been compiled from information contributed by more than a hundred correspondents around the world and illustrated with thousands of photographs and drawings--ninety percent of which are new to this edition.
Researchers can access all this information quickly, thanks to a thorough indexing of the material and a logical ship-typing system that not only makes the book easy to use but also makes comparisons between fleets easier.Because ship classes within each type are arranged from new to old, the latest developments are easily noted.
For this Naval Institute guide that presents the state of the world's fleets at the beginning of the millennium, A. D. Baker once again raises the standard for breadth of coverage, volume of detail, and ease of use. The fact that Combat Fleets also remains the least expensive single-volume reference available makes the work unbeatable.
CD-Rom Version
Redesigned to operate in a Windows Help format, the CD-ROM version of Combat Fleets 2000-2001 allows rapid access to specific information and even faster navigation between countries, ship types, and classes. Information can be retrieved through three easy navigational tools. First, the Table of Contents lists information in a format much like Windows Explorer, with all the subjects in files under each folder (country). With the second navigational tool, data is located through an Index function that contains key words for ships, aircraft, and systems listed alphabetically. The final tool is a Search function that allows the user to enter a key word. It's that simple. Once a topic is selected it appears in a display window on the right of the screen so that the user can see the requested information while having access to other topics.
Like previous editions, this new version includes copy-and-paste features for text and more than 4,000 photographs and 175 line drawings. These nearly all-new illustrations can be retrieved through a click-to-view command or by going to the image file via the Table of Contents. The CD-ROM continues to provide a conversion calculator for converting numeric values.
After a long night shift at the hospital, my long distance vision was so poor that I was scared to drive home. I also seem to suffer from nightblindness. Over the years, many of my doctor friends have recommended that I use Bilberry for my sight problems. I never listened to them. Finally, about a year ago, I decided I would try Bilberry. After using Bilberry for 3 weeks, I experinced a noticable improvement in my distance and night vision. After one year of use, my opthalmologist agreed that the improvement in my vision was fundamental and permanent enough that a change was required in my glasses prescription. I can now drive home confidently and safely at night.
