Description
Homaccords are preparations which contain one or several active substances in respective potency chords. Usually a low potency is combined with a medium potency and a higher potency. The background of this potency combination is the nearly 100-year-old therapeutic experience that the simultaneous administration of low, medium, and higher potencies causes a reduction of the initial aggravation. As is known, initial aggravations occur particularly often during the administration of higher potencies given individually. Homaccords are available as attenuations for oral administration. This multipotent form - among other applications - is particularly appropriate for treating chronic illnesses.

"Every disease is a meaningful defensive measure on the part of the body, an attempt to compensate for damage caused by homotoxins. Therefore, supporting the body's antihomotoxic (toxin-eliminating) efforts is the most effective and well-tolerated form of treatment." -Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg, M. D.
We cannot 'accurately' review this product yet as it is 'early days' in the treatment. Plantago-Homaccord was purchased for our border collie bitch (13 years) who presents with incontinence, apparently (according to our Vet) caused by the sterilization operation some years prior. We are aware the incontinence may also be partly age related.
She is an otherwise healthy, active, 'happy', bright dog.
Untreated, the incontinence causes us considerable distress.
- She leaks continually evident by the spray along the boards of our verandah and the wet mess on her hind and in her kennel.
- The smell on both her, her kennel and our house environment is excruciating.
- Flys in summer also increase and become problematic for us all.
- She 'seems' distressed
- We are concerned that her tolerance to infection is diminished.
We tried a natural herbal remedy and dietary changes when she first presented but this was unsuccessful and after some months resorted to Incuren as the only other option available - and we have used it on her for 2.5 years.
Our concerns have not been just the principal of using such a hormone drug on our animal but the cost is something like $1.50 per day and the long term effects on her are 'vague'. The other problem for us is the excretion of her waste water onto our soil and the plant uptake of it may be a problem. Furthermore, the cumulative affect of the drug entering our water table or storm water system and its possible affects on us and our cats – all are unknown. We felt we were adding heavily to our local environments' eco-footprint and needed to make change.
We researched (again) and found that in Plantago-Homaccord (PH) may provide some relief for human incontinence and that it had been used with success on canine animals.
The PH arrived about 23rd December 08 and we ceased the Incuren and began 2 drops of PH once daily.
It is now 9 days of using PH and all signs are positive.
- The leakage appears to have almost ceased (almost - because we missed one lot of drops and she was wet the next morning)
- She appears to be dry all day
- Her kennel bedding is no longer soaked in urine each morning – sometimes a little damp, but it is hard to say if this is urine or water as it has been raining a lot over the last 9 days here in Hamilton NZ
- There is no urine smell around her
- There are few flys
- Her fur (which faded to brown under the Incuren) is darkening
We will review the treatment at the end of 2 weeks.
We will continue to look for other opinions about the use of PH.
Very experimental, but then so was Incuren.
We trust Heel products (having used the detox and other products previously)
We feel our 'eco-footprint' on the our environment is more in line with our philosophy now, so that is a positive.
[Editor: Thank you very much for the extensive review! I sincerely hope your border collie continues to improve!]

Charlie - our 14 year old canine bitch
30-1-09 Hamilton NZ
By the 9th of January (2 weeks after starting using Plantago Homaccord) we increased the dosage to 4 then 4 days later, to 6 drops 2 x times daily.
She is now dry during the day, there is no evidence of dripping during the day (she sleeps on our verandah, and 'guards' her territory from that space so drips are very evident). The problem remains that she comes out of her kennel in the morning wet on her hind and a bit on her side so she is lying in her pee. She does not appear to get up during the night to pee and may not even know needs to go.
The plan now is to get her up during the night to remind her to go to pee (just as we would a child), then stop the Plantago Homaccord to see if her body has come back into balance. Will keep you posted.
Since using Plantago Homoccord, her coat has darkened (she is a black and white border collie) from a dirty dull brown which it went while using the hormone tablet (Incuren) to more patchy black brown, so it is clearly going back to its natural colour. She is also now able to shed fur (she could not moult her fur for the last 3 years) and she seems brighter.
Will keep you posted. Many thanks Heel Products and Zooscape.com. If she could talk our talk I am sure our bitch Charlie would say the same.
