This natural form of vitamin E has been extracted by cold pressing methods that do not damage the tocopherols. No chemical solvents are used. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and a powerful antioxidant, protecting cell membranes from pollution, toxins and free radicals. Vitamin E is the major antioxidant in lipid body tissues and the primary defense against lipid peroxidation, particularly in tissues that contain high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as the brain and central nervous system. Natural source vitamin E, designated by the prefix D, (D-alpha-tocopherol) is almost twice as bioavailable as synthetic vitamin E, designated by the prefix DL (DL-alpha-tocopherol).
