| | Description
A truly revolutionary reading product, Phonics Tiles helps children discover and explore the relationship between combinations of letters and the sounds they make.
Whether "red," "read," or "rdbap," the patented TruePhonics System helps children sound word out correctly, starting them down the road to reading. Children simply select and arrange individual magnetic letter tiles on the Phonics Tiles mat (placed on the floor or hung on the wall) to hear letter sounds and names or line up to five tiles to build words.
Phonics Tiles sounds out each word built, pronouncing vowels according to the surrounding letters - add an "e" to "mat" and it becomes "mate" - and blending consonant sounds. Phonics Tiles recognizes and repeats more than 600 high frequency words, including all of the words most commonly taught in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Four modes of play, leveling capabilities, and fun word games and letter songs make it easy to learn to read!
Phonics Tiles offers a step-by-step approach to learning to read. Children begin by learning individual letter sounds, then combining letters to make new sounds, and finally grouping combinations of letters and sounds to create words. Children will learn all of the rules of the English language and will become familiar with the "sight" words (the most common words that don't follow the rules).
Using interactive word-building and spelling challenges, Phonics Tiles provide children with the essential building blocks for reading. Children can fit the 26 upper- and lowercase letter tiles onto the included mat to form words of up to five letters. The toy pronounces any word spelled, whether it is real or not, so children can recognize letters and their sounds and explore letter combinations. Four modes of play--engaging alphabet songs, interactive games, exploration, or guided learning--offer several ways for children to learn the rules of phonics. This toy has been awarded many prestigious honors, including the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Toy Award, Parents Magazine Best Toys of the Year, and Family Fun Magazine's Toy of the Year Finalist. Phonics Tiles run on four AA batteries and are compatible with expansion packs for additional lessons. | |
