Description
Chickweed has long been prescribed by herbalists as a tonic and for a variety of ailments. It is high in Vitamin C and also contains other nutrients including Vitamin A, some B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
This common weed, sometimes called Starweed, can be found in almost every garden in all corners of the world. It is a low growing annual plant with tiny star-shaped white flowers. Traditionally Chickweed was harvested as a vegetable.
Herbalists recommend Chickweed for both internal & external inflammations. It is thought to be helpful for relieving urinary tract inflammation and cystitis. As a cream it can be applied to skin irritations, including eczema, insect bites, burns and scalds. Taken internally it is recommended by herbalists to relieve coughs and colds by reducing mucus build-up in the lungs. Herbalists also use it as a poultice for drawing boils, abscesses and ulcers. The plant is edible and can be added to salad or cooked.

Herbal Select Quality
Herbal Select is committed to making quality products that can deliver the consistently effective therapeutic results needed to satisfy customers and cultivate loyalty. Herbal Select supplements are formulated using only the world's finest medicinal herbs and ingredients containing a high level of active components or key biological markers. All of our suppliers must provide a laboratory certificate of analysis to meet researched standards of optimal purity and to ensure that their products are properly identified and uncontaminated. Our quality standards don't end with the purchase of the best herbs. Once the supplement ingredients arrive at our production facility, they are submitted to another round of laboratory testing to ensure that microbial contamination hasn't occurred during transit. Our state of the art manufacturing facility employs the latest technologies and quality control procedures to deliver a consistently blended, clean and safe product.
Herbal Select Potency
Potency is a measure of the strength of active ingredients. The time of harvest is one factor that determines a herb's potency and Herbal Select makes sure that we buy herbs that are harvested when their active compounds are at their peak. Allergies, dietary sensitivities and the use of dangerous free radical producing chemicals and reactive fillers can also significantly deter the therapeutic potency of the herbs, so we ensure that our supplements are non-irradiated and contain no added colouring, flavouring, starch, soy, yeast, dairy, or unnatural excipients. Our herbs are finely ground, extensively blended and encapsulated in superior coatings; increasing the therapeutic benefits that result from improved swallowing, digestion and absorption. Where available, we employ the use of solid standardized extracts to further guarantee the presence of active ingredients. A solid extract is typically 40 times more potent than an equal amount of tincture. A 100:1 extract would have the potency of 100 grams of the pure herb; while maintaining all of the synergistic whole herb factors that enhance the function of the active ingredient.
Herbal Select Selection
Herbal Select offers more than 100 premium herbal and nutritional supplements, herbal combinations and standardized herbal extracts for a complete self-medicating herbal health care program. We are continually adding to our line up of quality supplements. Herbal Select supplements are available in either gelatin capsules, Vegicaps®, or liquids to meet the dietary health requirements of most consumers.
