The prognosis was not good due to the fact that she was unable to have a lobectomy because of the seriousness of her COPD. On May 15, 2001, she started a protocol study through Duke University that had her receiving chem.(navlbene) and radiation at the same time for 12 weeks. As soon as the treatments were finished, Aug. 1, my dad started her on the dosage treatment recommended by the MGN3 guidlines. On Sept.5, mom was admitted to the hospital for radiation Pneumanitis. At that time, a bronchoscopy was performed to further the info needed as to why she developed this complication. A washing of the mucosa was done and found cancer cells. She was very fortunate to get over the pneumonia. But I took its toll on her body. I believe that If she had not been taking the MGN3 all along that the results would have been different.. She continued taking the MGN3 every day. In May of 2002, she presented with a fever. At that time another bronch. was done and a small tumor was found in the upper right bronchial.
