The FOLLIGRO System #1 fenugreek capsules (one capsule taken each day) contains a very special, patented fenugreek extract. Fenugreek has been used for centuries the world over for various illnesses, such as weight control, diabetes and infections and is well know to promote a better flow of milk in lactating mothers. Research has shown that fenugreek acts as a vaso-dialator and promotes improved blood circulation to various tissues such as the scalp. Improved circulation to the hair follicle is clearly important in order for the body to support hair re-growth. However, not just any Fenugreek can be depended on to achieve this. The FolliGRO fenugreek extract has been prepared very carefully, processed at a specified temperature for at a predetermined period of time so as to provide maximum effectiveness. The superior performance of the FolliGRO fenugreek extract is also due to harvesting the herb at a precise time of the year and from a carefully chosen region. Saw Palmetto has received a tremendous amount of attention from medical researchers. Studies have clearly proven saw palmetto's ability to prevent the formation of DHT (that bad testosterone.) FolliGRO, however uses a very special form of saw palmetto. If you look at typical saw palmetto you will see that it is brown. Ours is white, indicating that we are not using the typical saw palmetto sold in most stores. Discovered completely by accident
The discovery of FOLLIGRO was by complete accident. Back in the seventies a German painter suffering from chronic bronchitis was looking in an old herbal remedy book trying to find something that would help his illness. He came upon an article that recommended using the herb Fenugreek. Having nothing to loose (but his bad health) he made the Fenugreek tea that the article suggested and drank 3 QUARTS a day.
After a few months his bronchitis completely disappeared and he noticed a wonderful side effect. Hair started to grow again on his bald head. Excited to see his hair coming back, he kept on drinking the Fenugreek tea and after another 3 months all his original hair grew back.
Wanting to make this formula available for others who were balding, he tried selling bottled Fenugreek tea with little success. He enlisted the help of his brother-in-law (who was a biological engineer) to develop a more practical way of taking Fenugreeek. They came up with a patented fenugreek extract, specially processed and fortified with B complex vitamins in an easy to take capsule. Medicine has been trying to find answers to the cause of hair loss for centuries. Finally, however, science has solved the mystery of balding. As it turns out, factors such as diet, stress, the environment and genetics have all been implicated. The real culprit, the most important factor, by far, however is that of hormones - specifically hormonal shifts and imbalances. This conclusion is supported by some very convincing statistics. Studies have shown that over 90% of all hair loss in men (that dreaded Male Pattern Baldness) can be directly blamed on hormones. In women (and let us not forget that this is a huge problem as well) 80% of female hair loss or what we call Female Pattern Baldness is also directly linked to hormones. Both of these conditions are caused by a condition referred to as Androgenic Alopcea or "male hormone related hair loss."
The mechanism that causes balding
Here is what we have learned about male and female hormonal related hair loss. Our bodies produce an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme has the ability of taking the hormone Testosterone (which is naturally occurring in men and also produced in women-although in a slightly different form) and transforming it into Dihydrotestosterone or DHT and often referred to as "the bad Testosterone." DHT, which has also been implicated in prostate problems as well as hair loss, attacks the hair root or follicle producing a withering or drying up of the hair follicle by blocking a healthy blood supply and the important flow of nutrients. This DHT attack causes the hair root to become sickly. The hair looses its health and vitality and eventually begins to fall as the follicle no longer is able to maintain healthy hair growth.
