Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) has been described by Germans as "Alles zutraut", meaning "capable of anything" due to their belief that chamomile can relieve many ailments. The active ingredients are found in the essential volatile oils from the flowers of chamomile. Research has demonstrated that apigenin is the ingredient responsible for chamomile's anti-inflammatory, calming, mildly sedative and anti-spasmodic effects. Other constituents including Azulene, Chamazuline, Bisabolol and Matricine also have anti-inflammatory effects.
Chamomile taken internally, prevents and treats ulcers and other gastrointestinal problems including indigestion, gastritis, heartburn, and flatulence. The flavonoid known as apigenin, has been recognized for its calmative properties and ability to induce relaxation. As a result, Chamomile is a popular remedy used to treat and prevent anxiety, nervousness, restlessness, stress and insomnia.
Dosage: Try taking 15 to 20 drops of liquid tincture twice daily; alternatively drink 2 to 3 cups of chamomile tea daily.

Fresh drawn, boiling water contains the most oxygen, thereby giving the fullest taste to tea. Water that has been boiling for some time looses the oxygen and thereby the best taste.
Allow full expansion during the infusion and easy removal after the time for steeping has elapsed.
Draw into a tea pot or kettle the best fresh water that you have available.
Warm the teapot and cups while the water is boiling.
Cautions
Not recommended for use by pregnant or lactating women.
Allergy to chamomile may occur in hypersensitive individuals who have an allergy to ragweed pollen.
