Red Clover
Red clover is a multi-stemmed perennial that thrives in humid, grassy
meadows throughout the world. It is much larger than its familiar
relative, white clover, which is the low-growing, and vigorously spreading
lawn weed. Both, however, exhibit a similar "trifolium" (three
leaf) pattern and white arrowhead-shaped leaf markings. It is the compact,
pink flower tops of the red clover plant that are dried and used
medicinally - as they have been for centuries.
The expectorant and
anti-spasmodic properties of red clover justify its use for repiratory
conditions like asthma and bronchitis. It has also been used externally
for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. The concentrated
isoflavones within red clover have been the subject of many studies, and
research suggests benefits for menopausal symptoms as well as cancer and
cardiovascular disorders.
Directions
Fresh drawn, boiling water contains the most oxygen, thereby giving the fullest taste to tea. Water that has been boiling for some time looses the oxygen and thereby the best taste.
Allow full expansion during the infusion and easy removal after the time for steeping has elapsed.
Draw into a tea pot or kettle the best fresh water that you have available.
Warm the teapot and cups while the water is boiling.
Cautions
Do not use during pregnancy unless recommended by your health practitioner.

Jon Van Zyle's Iditarod Memories: 25 Years of Poster Art from the Last Great Race
Publisher's Notes Jon Van Zyle entered his first Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race(r) in 1976. He was establishing himself as an artist, and the race was a bold new challenge. His 1,100-mile journey across the breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes dangerous wilderness was as much spiritual as physical, and the experience inspired a quarter-century of work.
Jon loved the Iditarod and was an early supporter. After the 1976 race, the artist donated a painting for a poster sold to raise funds for the event. The posters have become an annual tradition since 1977. Jon became the official Iditarod artist in 1979, the year he competed a second time. Since then he has earned international popularity as a wildlife and landscape artist.
JON VAN ZYLE'S IDITAROD MEMORIES is a combination of stunning artwork and great stories-the care and affection given the dogs, obstacles faced by mushers, the history of the Nome serum run, the vital role played by volunteers along the trail, the importance of the "Iditarod Air Force," as well as Jon's personal experiences.
In 2001, Jon will release his 25th Iditarod commemorative poster. Jon's wife, Jona, tells the story about each poster with authenticity, insight, and love of the dogs.
