Description
These represent a class of soy phytochemicals that have mild estrogenic-type effects and appear to compete with estrogen for hormone receptor sites. The isoflavone content of soybeans is believed to help mitigate a number of symptoms and risk factors for chronic diseases. In various experimental models, isoflavones have been found to directly or indirectly lower cholesterol, relieve menopausal symptoms, possess anti-tumour effects and inhibit bone resorption (a common condition of osteoporosis).
