Description
Feeling blue? Can't seem to shake the doldrums? Try St. John's Wort extract.
Studies show that people taking St. John's Wort experience natural mood elevation and reduced feelings of sadness or hopelessness and often experience a better sleep pattern.
St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) has been used in traditional medicine for centuries and is one of the best researched and most effective herbal remedies for depression and nervous disorders. This herb has been tested against 25 double blind controlled studies and has been tested against prescription anti-depressants (e.g. prozac). In all studies, St. John's Wort affects serotonin metabolism and alters brain chemestry. However, the changes are very subtle, and without any of the side effects of pharmaceuticals.
