The main ingredient is the naicinamide form of niacin. While niacin (as nicotinic acid) has been used to normailze blood pressure and cholesterol, there are other effective supplements and foods that can lower cholesterol levels: Fish oils, garlic, psyllium, flax, and a diet that includes soy protein, almonds, cereal fiber, plant sterols used in cholesterol-lowering margarines, salad dressing and other products. In one study out of Toronto, a diet alone, rich in many of the aforemetioned foods, lowered cholesterol levels 30% after one month in 34 overweight men and women, as compared to statin drugs which lowered LDL levels 33%.
Directions
As a dietary supplement, take one tablet daily, preferably with meals. This extra high potency tablet should be taken under doctor's supervision. Niacin normally can cause itching or flushing, but this timed release tablet minimizes those problems.
NOW Foods is proud to announce the receipt of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification from the National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA). The NNFA GMP Certification Program is designed to verify compliance of member suppliers of dietary supplements with a standardized set of good manufacturing practices (GMPs) developed by NNFA.
