Description

Feverfew Blend contains herbs that are known to be pain-relieving (analgesic), anti-inflammatory and calming. Feverfew herb has been documented by the London Migraine Clinic as being effective for headaches, including migraines. Children who have overexerted their muscles or have infrequent headaches may benefit from the support they receive from this blend. Children with recurrent headaches should have an eye exam and be evaluated for food sensitivities. For fevers try our Temp Assure blend.

"Thank you so much for making a Feverfew Blend. It has helped my daughter's migraine headaches!" - Peggy,U.S.A.

Never before in history has the human body been subjected to so many new health factors: environmental toxins, refined foods, synthetic food colorings, pesticides, detergents, artificial scents, computer screens, television. A child with chronic headaches could be suffering from sensitivity to one or more of these, or could just be reacting to stress, eyestrain, food sensitivities, indigestion, hunger, allergies, ear infection or illness.

Symptoms: A child with recurrent headaches should be evaluated for food hypersensitivities (not allergies) and should have an eye exam as well. Keep a journal of when the headaches appear, and watch for 'coincidences'.

Other Relief:
  • Avoid using aspirin unless your doctor has ruled out a viral infection. Reyes' Syndrome could result.
  • Peppermint tea or lozenges can help.
  • Try giving your child a gentle massage on the head, feet, back and shoulders. Ask their permission.
  • Make sure the diet is full of natural foods; eliminate sugar, artificial colorings and preservatives, and all caffeine, including sodas.
  • Your child may prefer hot washcloths or ice packs applied directly to painful areas.

What an honor it is for each of us to be involved in children's health care! To be allowed to participate in such a vital part of a child's growth is certainly one of the greatest satisfactions we could ever receive. Sharing the age-old tradition of using healing plants to nourish and soothe an ailing child is not only a health care decision; it's an art, an act of environmental commitment, a quest for more information, a pledge towards a gentler, simpler and more affordable way of life. Teaching children to appreciate remedies that come from the garden is one simple step towards the lifestyle we all yearn for, and can be the hands-on approach to taking part in our own health care that is our birthright.

Herbal medicine must be used wisely. We are fortunate to live in a time when excellent technological treatments are available for major health challenges. We must now be willing to learn what our limitations are, and what the limitations of modern medicine are. As parents and herbal educators, we must co-operate, in the finest sense of the word, with our medical practitioners: listening carefully to our doctors' good advice, learning from them as we see them learning from us and creating a partnership of trust that includes the safe use of herbs. Keep in mind that herbal remedies are gentle yet strong, and must be used 3 - 5 times per day for results.

Life moves quickly in these times of change. A child's illness is often an invitation to slow down, rest, play and to be loved. Be sure to listen to their message. Trust the plants.
