Bay (Laurus Nobilis) has a scent that is sweet, fresh, spicy, camphorous, and medicinal. It is classified as a middle-to-top note scent and the odor intensity is about a three out of ten. Blending companions include rosemary, fir, juniper, lavender, citrus, and spices. Physical uses for the oil include lymphatic cleansing, and it is also mildly stimulating, antiseptic, and sedative. Emotionally, the oil has been used for a psychic shield, protecting against negativity; it also is believed to improve intuition, clarity, and perspective. Laurel leaves were woven into wreaths on the heads of Greek and Roman scholars or victors.Add bay oil to the bath with a tablespoon of vinegar to relax muscles or include them in a bath bag. A small teaspoon of this oil to 9 tablespoons of alcohol and 1 tablespoon of mineral water, rubbed into the scalp before shampooing is a good conditioner.
