Low in saturated fatty acids, high in polyunsaturates, Borago Dfficionalis is an attractive plant with star like blue flowers, whose native habitat is the Mediterranean region, These capsules contain Borage Oil, rich in an Essential Fatty Acid (Linoleic Acid) which also contains a far higher proportion of GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid) than any other known natural source.
Essential Fatty Acids are, like Vitamins, unable to be manufactured by the body and have to be supplied through the diet. The GLA content of the oil has been verified in independent laboratory tests up to 23% of the fatty acids so that, for weight, Boracelle can contain more than 2 « times the GLA of a typical Evening Primrose Oil and up to 70% more than Blackcurrant Seed Oil. The body uses such fatty acids for cell structure and to make Prostaglandins, which are biological regulators, controlling metabolic, physiological and reproductive functions. One of the most important Prostaglandins is PGE1, and this is normally derived in the body from Linoleic Acid via GLA. Sometimes, the conversion of Linoleic Acid to GLA is inefficient and a dietary source of GLA such as SWISS BORAGE OIL can be very useful to the body in by-passing the blockage. Careful scientific studies have verified the oil at Borage Seed to be a safe and potent source of GLA.
