| | Description
Popular in ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and China, the familiar scent of cinnamon still wafts through the world in cooking, perfumery and aromatherapy. A native of China, western India and Sri Lanka, some of the most valued cinnamon now comes from Ceylon. Cinnamon essential oil can be distilled from either the leaves and twigs or the inner bark of the cinnamon tree, a member of the laurel family. But because the leaves contain a much higher percentage of eugenol and only a fraction of the amount of cinnamon aldehyde than the bark, there's a clear chemical distinction between the oils.
The fragrance of cinnamon leaf oil is warm, soothing, sweet and spicy. In perfumery, where recent research has shown it a scent favored by men, it adds a heavy, pungent note. It can be gently stimulating, subtly sensual, and very comforting, especially in cold weather. Aromatherapists use it to arouse physical sensations and creativity, and to ease anxiety, stress, or mental fatigue.
(Cinnamomum zeylanicum) Indonesia, Sri Lanka - the aroma is more reminiscent of cloves than cinnamon. Aromatherapy: refreshing, vitalizing.
The plants used to produce Frontier oils are grown on certified organic fields where no synthetic chemicals are used in growing or processing. The final products are third-party certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI). We also condust rigorous, in-house testing for quality and purity. The bottle has a patented neck insert that measures the oil drop by drop. Also, our oils are bottled in dark violet glass which helps protect the oils from ultraviolet light, which can break them down.
Humans have been using the power of scent for over 6,000 years. Fragrant herbs and oils were used by Neolithic peoples and the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and Babylon. In ancient Egypt, legend has it that Cleopatra herself had the sails of her ship soaked in jasmine oil to attract Mark Antony. Attracting, alluring, relaxing, comforting, healing - modern aromatherapy also uses the powerful properties of essential oils to balance and enhance your mood.
How does Aromatherapy Work?
Our sense of smell is ten thousand times more sensitive than our other senses - the invisible world of scent surrounds us with powerful influences. Think of familiar smells - peppermint, rose, sweet basil, cedar - and how each one inspires in you different feelings. Unlike synthetic fragrances, pure essential oils are natural compounds derived from plants; their biochemical composition stimulates our brains, affecting mood and well being. You can use aromatherapy to recharge, rejuvenate, relax and soothe...the scope of aromatherapy is limited only by your imagination! | |
