Description
This herb has been an important part of tribal healing in the South American rainforest for thousands of years. It has been used as a traditional treatment for a wide variety of conditions both internally and externally. Modern science has validated Pau D'Arco's effectiveness as a treatment for a number of conditions including; constipation, tumour reduction and suppression (leukemia in particular), pain reduction, anti-biotic and anti-fungal. Part of the herb's effectiveness may stem from the fact that it is a powerful antioxidant and it appears to increase the production of red blood cells. This herb contains napthaquinines (lapachol being the major one), anthraquinones, lapachol, beta-lapachone, quercitin, xloidone and a number of other phytochemicals.
