Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin required for the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus by the intestinal tract, which helps in bone formation. Vitamin D protects against muscle weakness and plays a role in regulating the heartbeat. It is important in prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and hypoglycemia. The main function of vitamin D is to regulate all mineral and vitamin metabolism and maintains the health of the glandular and nervous system.
Vitamin D, also known as "The Sunshine Vitamin", works synergistically with Vitamin A to prevent its oxidation. The combination of A & D makes them more readily absorbed across the intestinal tract.
