There have been a few studies that demonstrated how coenzyme Q10 increased overall sperm count, sperm motility and velocity, and the rate of fertilization. While the exact mechanism of action is not completely understood, clinical results have been impressive. One study showed a 9% -16% increase in sperm motilty following six months of oral conezyme Q10 treatment; sperm motility reverted back to 9% six months after treatment stopped.
Common clinical daily dosages of coenzyme Q10 range from 60 mg to as much as 400 mg although most coenzyme Q10 studies used a dosage of 100 mg per day. Typically, the lower daily dosages (60 mg to 100 mg daily) have been used in the infertility studies while the higher dosages (200 mg to 400 mg daily) are used to treat cancer patients or those with severe heart disease.
