Description
Significant pancreatic insufficiency is not common, but mild insufficiency is thought to be common, especially among the elderly.(2) The pancreatic digestive enzymes are central to normal digestion of protein and the optimal absorption of nutrition. Apart from malabsorption, enzyme deficiencies lead to problematic gas and bloating, general digestion symptoms, the and passing of undigested food. As well, food allergies have been associated with undigested protein particles.(1) This product is expected to help those with such problems.
The enzymes in this product address protein, carbohydrate, and fat digestion. If pancreatic enzymes are not adequately present during digestion, some food particles remain too large for assimilation and can become the basis of intestinal irritation, with gas and abdominal cramping. Undigested protein is particularly problematic, producing bacteria-derived toxic putrefaction (rot) by-products with foul odor, and in some cases these putrefied protein by-products are the basis for food allergy. A possible cause of pancreatic insufficiency is inappropriately low stomach acidity. Acid leaving the stomach with food, for maximal intestinal digestion, must be neutralized by pancreatic sodium bicarbonate to protect the intestines. The amount of bicarbonate that is required tells the pancreas how big the meal was, and therefore how much digestive enzyme to release to match the meal size. Many people use drugs to suppress stomach acid production, likely resulting in pancreatic digestive enzyme insufficiency. As well, some people have an age-related low acid production and some are just by nature low acid producers. Supplementation with a plant based complete digestive enzyme product may provide effective help for those suffering digestive complaints. Used for 1 to 2 weeks, the sufferer can determine if there is a digestive enzyme connection with chronic symptoms of general indigestion with bloating, pain, gas, and foul bowel movements. Investigating the personal value of a complete digestive enzyme product is easy and often worthwhile. Plant derived enzymes are not associated with adverse side effects for the vast majority of people.
If a patient finds that the this complete digestive enzyme product improves his or her digestion and gastrointestinal quality of life, then they should be encouraged to discuss their discovery with their physician, and to seek guidance in addressing any discernable underlying factors for digestion enzyme problems, including the possibility of serious clinically important pancreatic insufficiency.
