Herbal bitter used to support digestion, liver, bile flow, gallbladder, fevers and more.
Barberry root has a bitter taste and is commonly used as an herbal bitter to stimulate the digestive processes. Barberry is traditionally used as a liver herb and it is helpful in relieving any problems where sluggish liver functions are suspected. Barberry is a cholagogue, promoting the flow of bile. It is useful in chronic gallbladder disease or in the tendency to form gallstones.
Barberry is also antipyretic and anti-inflammatory and can be used to help reduce fevers. The root and root bark also have laxative properties and work gently to stimulate movement of the intestinal tract.
