		Traditionally used for diarrhea, coughs, varicose veins, and hemorrhoids. The horsechestnut tree is found throughout Europe, where the seeds of the fruits are used medicinally. While not often used in North America, horsechestnut is one of the most popular herbal medicines in Europe. It is used traditionally to treat conditions such as diarrhea and coughs, but it is most commonly used to treat varicose veins and hemorrhoids. A systematic review of 13 double-blind clinical trials using horsechestnut extract found that it is effective in treating varicose veins when used either alone or with compression stockings.
