Rose Hips Astringent used for diarrhea, inflammation, sore throats, irritated eyes, colds, flus and much more. Rose petals are astringent, and like most herbs with the same property, can be relied upon to provide some aid in mild diarrhea. The petals have also been used in skin preparations, where their soothing astringency helps to reduce inflammation of tissue and provide some tone. Rose petal tea can also be used as a pleasant gargle and mouthwash for sore throats. A wash made of rose petals has also been traditionally used as a treatment for irritated or tired eyes. The fruit, known as rose hips, contains a high amount of vitamin C. Although some of the vitamin content is lost in drying and processing, rose hip tea does provide some nutrition and is a healing aid in colds and influenza.
