Anti-inflammatory used to stimulate the immune system.
Cat's claw is a woody climbing vine native to South America that can grow up to 30 in length. While relatively new to the developed world, it has long been prized for its healing abilities by the cultures of South America. The inner bark of the stem and root are the parts used medicinally.
While cat's claw is used to treat gastrointestinal diseases, rheumatism, cancer, HIV, asthma, diabetes and menstrual irregularities, scientific evidence supporting these claims is generally lacking. Cat's claw has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and to be able to stimulate the immune system.
